I have no business blogging...

I haven't even left yet, and I'm homesick already! Can you believe it!!! I feel like I felt when I was a kid and was going to go to camp or a sleep over. A little excited, nervous and afraid, all in one. I know that everything will be fine at home - Patrick is a better "mother" than I am! More relaxed, less agitated, more patient, less rigid, etc. Everything is going to be just great - My heart will just miss everything. We had family pictures done at church tonight for the directory. When I saw the computer proof of the picture of all of us, I was overwhelmed with thanksgiving. 7 years ago, I was SO lonely, so sad, so beyond hope for a great future that if you would have told me that I would have a happy, healthy, bonded, family I wouldn't have believed it. God has been so kind and gracious to me. He has blessed me beyond measure, and I have ONLY Him to give glory and praise to. He loves me and He alone lifted me from my lonely pit, and found me a firm place to stand. He gave me gifts of a loving husband and beautiful children. I will miss my sweet home and my sweet family while I am in Dallas, but I am praying that the same gracious Heavenly Father who met me in my loneliness and sadness will me meet at our MOPS convention. I am not that excited to go, but I am really asking for His Spirit to go before me and prepare something for me to receive. I will see you in a few days!!!

Mmmmmmm...

There aren't a lot of questions to ask when you only have 1 brunette child...

Weekend Highlights

We had the BEST weekend as a family - Here are some of the highlights, and a few photos of some of the things that we did.
* Meredith's preschool class went on a field trip to King Soopers (grocery store) on Friday afternoon. She got to go inside the big refrigerator, but wasn't impressed because she was SO cold. Daddy went on this field trip with Meredith.
* We drove up to Laramie, Wyoming on Friday evening to a dinner with some of Patrick's work associates. There were a lot of kids there to play with, and Marky even came home with a new dolly. I loved being with Patrick and his co-workers. It's fun to see him through other people's eyes. I was so proud of my family.
* Saturday morning we went to Lowes for the kids workshop. The kids got to build a FIRETRUCK!!! They had lots of fun!!
* Marky got to go to Cassidy's birthday party. Maddie got to tag-a-long so she could play with McKenna; Celia came with Meredith and I for a special little outing.
* Patrick and I went to the movies!!!
* Sarah and Jason babysat - (Marky and Maddie got to go with Jason to Target to get carpet cleaner because Molly pooped - they LOVED THAT) !!
* Great church service
* Patrick and I had ANOTHER date - Starbucks
* We went to Taco Bell and got lunch and then went over to Daddy's new office and had a picnic.
* We went to Bath Nursery to look around. Michael LOVED the toy train that rides around the tree. He kept trying to catch it - actually succeeded one time and derailed it. Mommy came to the rescue. The girls really enjoyed looking at the plants. Mommy resisted the urge to buy anything more for the yard.
* Grandma and Poppop Oman came over for a visit.

It was a perfect weekend. We are so blessed, and we are so thankful.

Flu update

Maddie is back to her old self today. Her day yesterday was pretty yucky, but she is in good spirits today. She is home from school with us for the day, only because I didn't want her to go back to school weak and tired. Marky is going to bring home Maddie's homework for her. Meredith and Michael were both very attentive to Maddie yesterday. I love watching them care for each other. The other great news is that so far, nobody else is showing any signs of feeling sick. Something to be SO grateful for!!

thankful

Have you ever thanked God for a piece of clothing? In the grand scheme of life and in light of many other eternal things, I realize how insignificant this jacket is... BUT for temporary enjoyment, deep down textile satisfaction, and superficial pleasure, it is DIVINE! The buttons are spectacular and the lining is POLKA - DOT!! The corduroy is as soft as VELVET. The color blue is so perfect - almost has a periwinkle tinge to it. It fits like a glove! I can't WAIT to wear it, and I am SO thankful for it!! Thank YOU for allowing ME to be SO happy about it!!

Grasshopper flu

My poor Maddie-girl has the stomach flu. This is not good. Daddy kept watch over her this morning while I was at Bible Study. This was an enormous sacrifice (and HELP!) on his part for reasons that only fellow sympathy vomitters can relate to. I keep waiting for someone else to tell me that their tummy hurts, or listening for any noise that my be an indication that it has spread. I even started thinking about how I was going to cancel my trip to Dallas next week when I get the flu... then I was nudged in my spirit about the verse in Matthew about worrying about tomorrow. So, Maddie has had a movie day, and a multi-bath day, and I am praying that this is just an isolated case. This morning I asked her if anyone at school had the stomach flu and she said, "No, I think that my tummy hurts because I played with grasshoppers yesterday." Funny girl :).

Today

A strange thing happened today while Meredith was at school.... I missed her!!! The house was very quiet (Michael was sleeping), the car was very quiet (Michael was at home with Daddy), and I actually couldn't wait to pick her up from school and hear what her afternoon had been like. She is my snuggly child - this morning we had a nice time reading and snuggling together. I think that it made me remember what a sweet little girl that she is. In the midst of her strong willed spirit, sometimes I forget that side of her. I'm glad that this afternoon I remembered.
