Tradition, tradition!

This is the first year that the kids have drawn names for Christmas. It has been the cutest thing ever. First, Marky gladly took on the big sister role of putting everyone's name in the hat and directing the drawing. Next, the big girls have pulled up websites on their computers and "shopped" for their little person. Marky got Michael's name and she made a very detailed list, price and all, of the gifts that he might want off of the "toys R us" website. It is hanging above her desk. Maddie got Meredith's name, and they laid on the floor and "shopped" together. It cracked me up to overhear them talking about price, size, etc. Drawing names is a tradition that my siblings and I have had for as long as I can remember - we still do it and include each one's spouse. I love that my kids are carrying on this tradition, even though it is a small one. These are the special times.

Snow on the pumpkins

Meredith looked out the window yesterday at this scene on our deck and she said, "Mommy - the pumpkins have hats on!
