Molly
It was a long week last week... filled with so much worry and a lot of prayer. Our dog, Molly, ran away last Tuesday evening and was gone until 3:30 Saturday morning, when she scratched at the back door as if she had just left. She walked in the back door, took a little drink, wagged her tail at our middle of the night enthusiasm, and then plopped herself on the bed to sleep. She didn't know what my heart had gone through all week; the many times I begged God to bring her back to us, unharmed; the tears that I cried and the prayers that I prayed; these pictures of how incomplete our home and family would be if something bad happened to her. Strangely enough, it was good for me to have something to be pleading with God for. Sometimes my prayers become too common place, too general, too haphazard. I enjoyed the abiding with Him that was necessary for me to make it through the not-knowing if Molly was going to be coming home to us.
A new week... I want to keep up the practice of drawing near to Jesus with the aches of my heart instead of just getting through the day with my thoughts and fears and worries weighing heavy on me. I found a cool Bible verse that speaks to the way the week ended; not just with the safe return of our sweet doggy but with the knowledge and peace of Jesus' nearness to me renewed in my spirit.
2Cor. 9:15 - "Thank God for His Son - a gift too wonderful for words."
